what to expect when hiring a graphic designer

Our Process:

  • First things first, I can’t help you out if I don’t know who you are!

    Shoot me a message at hello@jemmaortiger.com.au, or fill out the contact form and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

  • Next, we will organise a time to really delve deep into the needs of your business in a discovery meeting.

    Depending on the size of the project and your location, this might be in person, over Zoom or over the phone- whichever you would prefer.

    Now be warned, I will grill you with questions- but it’s for a purpose! My goal is to gain a deep and holistic understanding of your business and its goals, struggles, values, and positioning in the marketplace.

    Why do I need to know all this?

    Well, just creating a ‘pretty’ or ‘cool’ looking design is utterly useless. My role is to create designs that are completely focused on the unique goals of your business and that actively target the people you need to reach.

  • Next I’ll send through an obligation-free quote and a project proposal.

    The project proposal will outline all the key details we discussed in the discovery meeting, which will ensure that we’re both on the same page before we get started!

    A contract will also be included. Once you sign on the dotted line- then the magic can begin!

    For most projects a 50% deposit is required upfront, however this may vary depending on the project specifications.

  • Once the deposit has been received, I’ll get to work!

    For larger projects, plenty of progress updates and feedback opportunities will be given along the way.

  • Once the initial design/s are complete I’ll seek your feedback and input. This may be in person, over zoom or phone, depending on the size of the project.

  • Every project includes two free rounds of revisions. This is where you have the chance to request changes and edits to the design.

    After the two rounds of revisions, changes can still be made however you may be charged a little extra.

  • Once all revisions have been made and you’re happy, I’ll prepare the final designs! This may involve preparing files for print, exporting various logo formats and whatever else is necessary for your unique project!

    Before design rights are transferred, full payment must be received.

    Then we can celebrate! Hooray!

    After the design process, I’d love to hear your overall thoughts and feedback. Google reviews are invaluable, so I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with others!
